Automatic htaccess authentication via PHP

Hi NG,

is it possible to achieve an automatic authentication via PHP?

What I'm trying to do is, protect one subfolder with htaccess, and then have
this subfolder-index.php opened by another .php-page which is part of a user
autentication system, i.e. users will already by identified and
authenticated there. Can this subfolder also be on a different server (given
that the automatic authentication via PHP is possible ...)?

cheers for your help!

Yes, it is possible. Just found out how to do it myself. HTaccess protect
the folder, and then call the URL like this:
http://username:pa******@www.domain....lder/index.php

Quite easy ;)
