existence in mysql-array

Hi there,

I'm running a website with a mysql-db behind it.
There are products in it. They belong to a certain category,
and a certain series.
Series are defined by a series_id, categories are defined by a
number between 0 and 5.

My query now looks like this:
$get_family = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT cat FROM products WHERE
series_id=$this_id ORDER BY cat")or die(mysql_error());

It works, because i can print different categories that are inside the
series....
(Hope it's clear)

My only problem now is, how can i check if there is a cat=4 in the
results,
so i can display a certain image that a category-4 product is in these
series..

Thanks!

$get_family = mysql_query("SELECT DISTINCT cat FROM products WHERE
series_id=$this_id ORDER BY cat")or die(mysql_error());

while ($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($get_family)) {
if ($row["cat"] == 4) {
echo "holy cow! this result set has a category 4 in it!";
}
}

//if it gets to here without echoing, you know it doesn't have it.

Hmm, got another one then:
If the query returns a lot of data, how can i check if any value
is returned without runnin through every option?

Something like in_array($data['cat']=4)

Is that possible?
