Hello,
I'd like to make some download speed limitation on some of my files

my ISP Apache configuration.
My idea was to put the file into a .htaccess protected diretory and to
build a "proxy" with PHP.

Hi everybody,
I have a need for a web app that will allow a flash client to download files
at a specified speed.
I am using Flash for an application of mine which downloads JPG slides to
users' web based app.
Because I can't control how quickly a file (in this case, a JPG slide) is

I work with a lot of large databases (Tiger, Census, PhoneBooks...),
and occasionally I run a process that exceeds the 2Gb. limit. When
this happens I've NOT been able to erase data, compact or otherwise
recover the database. Because of backups, this hasn't been a big
problem with data lost, but I can loose hours of processing time when
running address matching or parsing.
Does anyone know what the fix is?
TIA

I think I have pushed ASP.NET to the limit, I am not sure if I have done
anything wrong in the code because I am trying to make 2 pieces of code (C#
vs PHP) using the same algorithm. Anyways, here is the my test.
How: Create a HTML page with 2 hyper links to these files (posted below).
Right click, Save target As.
Tested: On my P4 1.6 GHz , 1 GB Ram server, Windows 2000 IIS 5 and Apache
1.3 for win32, 100 Mbps LAN
Sample Size: 150 MB...

I have been on the quest to find a php script that can serve files for downloads and limit the speed at which the file is transfered to the user. I want a faster download speed for registered members and a slower speed for guests.
The only other thing I can think of is using the header() function to force a download for the requested file type and stream the file to the user's browser. Then using sleep() or usleep()...

I have only 1m records in my database running on a laptop of speed
1.6GHz, memory 512MB ram, and Toshiba MK8032GAX hard disk.
I use 'LIMIT x,10' for the query to utilise record paging.
When the value of x is nearer to 0, the query speed is fast.
Presently, 'LIMIT 0,10', 'LIMIT 50000,10' and 'LIMIT 100000,10' takes
about 0sec, 11secs and 4mins respectively.
1) Is there anything I should do, in terms of sql statement or database
design,...

How can I set download speed limit?

I have DSL with a download speed of 32MB/s and an upload speed of 8MB/s(according to my ISP), and I am using a router. My upload speed is always between 8MB/s and 9MB/s(which is above the max upload speed), ALWAYS. However, my download speed doesn't go over 25MB/s. And when my brother turns on the internet from his computer and takes up half the download/upload speeds (routers automatically split the speeds in two when two computers are using...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
