we have some major GC issues at present with a system we're trying to

I've got the simple problem where I'd like to transfer
somewhat large files to my webserver via
http/webservice/something like that.
My question is what kinda limits have people been able to
hit? Is 500mb unreasonable or not. Client doesnt have to
be a typical webbrowser, so I could theoretically chunk it
up and send chunks to the server, when completed, re-
assemble and write file etc.

I'm trying to build a log viewer, its going to be part of a
contentmanagement system and needs some extra features that commersial
logviewers don´t have.
The log files (IIS log) are 200-500mb large and the problem is that it
taket to long to parse them.
I use textreader.readline and split on spases, and then I use that

This is sort of a continuation of a previous post of mine. The code below
basically reads a registry key to get a path to a folder and it watches for
files created in that folder (only created). It also reads another registry
key for another path which is a destination path. When a file shows up, it
copies it off.
It actually works well . . . For small duty stuff but if for example I were
to copy in multiple small files...

I have a large data file that I split into smaller more manageable chunks (went from a 12.86 GB file to 500 MB - 1.6 GB chunks).
I now want to add to the PERL script and go back through those more manageable chunks and pull out any invoices within those smaller data files that are larger than 250 MB each and print them to their own files as well.
How do I go about doing that?

I am working on some software which has to deal with data that could be as
large as 500mb or so. Currently I am using new and delete to manage
this memory but I find it is not ideal and sometimes gives out of memory
errors if I open one large data item then free that data item then another
large data item even though I have enough memory (including 2GB of physical
RAM and 100GB of free disk space for swap file). Are there any functions...

spreading them across multiple folders.
For instance if we have 100,000 files to be copied,
Do we copy all of them to a single folder called 'All Files'
Do we spread them out and copy them to multiple folders like

Whenever I edit it, I copy the latest edition to my harddrive and make the necessary changes, then copy the modified forms/queries/reports back to a central copy where we all merge our changes. I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
