Dynamic Perl statements

Simply put this is what I would like to do

$str = "print \"this command \\n \" " ;

$str();
Doesnt work.

Is there away to put together a perl command in a string and then
execute the string.

Much like Dynamic SQL?

Hi, I'm a newbie to perl and is now studying about perl programming, I read some perl programming tutorials online (enter 'Perl tutorial' at google.com) and also find some sample perl scripts for study. For below statements I couldn't understand what is the function of '$in'. I tried to search through the perl script tutorial pages since this morning (now it's afternoon) but still couldn't find the explanation. Could anyone help...

I have noticed something disturbing when retrieving datasets over a relatively slow line (multiple T1). I am looking at about 25 seconds to retrieve 500 rows via a php-odbc link. This same select from the cli is for all intents practicaly instantaneous. After much research I discovered that PHP by default uses a dynamic cursor type which can be quite a bit slower than a forward only cursor. BTW I have been searching forward only/read...

Hello, we are running DB2 UDB EEE Version 7.2 Fixpack 12 on a two machine Windows 2000 Advanced Server Cluster in a dss environment. Some dynamic sql statements for etl processes and even some for online user queries switched overnight from some minutes runtime to a few hours or "never come back" statements. We didn't change a single database or instance parameter. Even the

Hello I need to process a SQL monitoring log stored in a table to group the statements that change just the constants in it. Ex: select a,b,c from table where (a = 'xyz' and b = 123 and c != '2004-10-10') or ( a like 'def%' ) select a,b,c from table where (a = 'zyx' and b = 321 and c != '2004-01-01') or ( a like '%fed' )

Hi, I find the "snapshot for dynamic sql" a great tool for identifying the most frequently executed dynamic sql statements, most cpu used, etc. It is a great help for system tuning. My understanding is it does not display static sql statements. Is a statement event monitor the only way to capture the same information for static sql in packages? Lew

All the usual Newbie stuff applies... I have a Windows2000 Server with ActivePerl and a module (DBD-Interbase) that worked fine. Trying to duplicate the environment on Windows2003 Server for future upgrade, and this module won't work (other Perl scripts in IIS6 are OK, just not this Interbase module, which is critical). The error comes from Dynaloader.pm file, which I've read through, and it says that it's a generic message about external...

Hi, we are building a Java webapplication using JSF, running on websphere, querying a DB2 9 on Suse Enterprise 10. The app uses JDBC and PreparedStatements only (aka dynamic SQL). Every night, there is a ETL which deletes most of the data in the database and fills it all new. We observed very bad performance for some statements that ran for minutes (The queried table is about 100,000 records and the result is about 500 rows)....

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
