Difference between unique and distinct

Hi,

Is there any difference in using select distinct and select unique?

select distinct column_name from table_name
select unique column_name from table_name

If both gives the same result... which one to use and where and why?

Please help me.

There is no difference between unique and distinct, you use anyone.

Also there is no performance issue.
