Suppose I created index on table . If i fired select statement on that table then how will come to know whether that index was fired or not ....

please find a file named UTLXPLAN.SQL in the following path.

\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\RDBMS\ADMIN

(location may change as per version of oracle u r using)

run this script ,it creates a table called Plan_table

then a SQL prompt set this


SQL>set auto trace on.


it shows the execution plan that was used by the optimizer to retrive records from the database, at the end of the execution of the query .
