Update Procedure.. for two tables

5 New Member
Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to update two columns in two different tables.
I'm creating a procedure, but it does not seems to work, and I cannot find any references which says that this is allowed.

below is my proc.

create or replace procedure enter(
user IN customers.userid%type,
dept IN department.deptname%type )
AS
begin
update customers, department
SET customers.active = 'Y',department.avail = (avail+1)
where customers.userid = user and department.deptname = dept;
END;
/

here is the error I'm getting

PL/SQL: ORA-00971: missing SET keyword

any help would be great... thanks
