That the following be posted weekly for this news group:

Hans,

The .server, .misc, and .tools, and .marketplace have been the result
of a discussion to split comp.databases. oracle
'Officially' comp.databases. oracle doesn't exist anymore, and many
providers (eg my own) do not distribute it anymore.
One would do better to discourage posting to comp.databases. oracle,
making it finally extinct.

I concur. However, some ISPs (including mine) DO carry it and it seems
to be growing lately.

Please note the 'Charter' section in detail!

Someone posted this official proposal to create comp.databases.postgresql.general again. He wrote his own charter. As far as I know, he did not consult any of the postgresql groups first. There may be an upcoming vote on this, so please stay informed and read news.newgroups.announce for updates. Also see message <2uu44nF2eodc0U1@uni-berlin.de> for an example of the proponent's temperament.

Since we have the discussion going, someone mentioned that the group name should be comp.databases.postgresql. I think this is a good name and I'd like to see what everyone thinks of it. There is also the issue of the charter. I would like to get some feed back on what the best charter could be for the revision of the RFD so it is a strong as possible. So the things I'm seeing that people are having the most problems with the...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
