The License for all of Oracle's downloaded software states "Developmen t
only". The moment you put it into production, you contact Oracle and
pay for the right to use.

Other than that all of the software you can download from Oracle's site
is their 'production' software (except for patches). This is the same
as the CD version, and there are no time/feature/client limits.

I have developed a VB application that uses Oracle 8i database for backend. The database server is on the local network. From my development machine, the application connects (via ODBC) to the database successfully. The problem is that I want to install this application on several Windows 2000 client machines that do not have Oracle client...

One of my friends, Scott, is a consultant who doesn't currently have newsgroup access so I am asking these questions for him. I'll be telling him how to monitor the answers via Google Newsgroup searches. Scott has heard a lot of hype about DB2 and Oracle and is trying to understand the pros and cons of each product. I'm quite familiar with...

I'm a little confused about what's out there for database modules at: http://python.org/topics/database/modules.html What I'd like to do is use Python to access an Oracle 9.X database for exporting a series of tables into one aggregated table as a text file, for import into a mainframe database. The catch is that I'd like to write code...

I've worked with mdbs, and with SQL Server to a lesser extent, with Access as a front end, on commercial-strength systems for quite a while, starting with A97. The last 8 months or so, I've been working on Access 2000/2002 with pass through queries and linked tables to an Oracle 10g backend (ODBC). Access seems (still) to beat everything...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention.
