If you insert NULL into a TimeStamp-type field, you will get automatic DateTime from the OS.

The first timestamp will always be "automatically generated time." So if the record is updated, or inserted, this time gets changed. However, if the column order is changed with an alter statement, this is no longer the case. create table t ( a int, b int, timeUpdate timestamp, timeEnter timestamp );

Could someone tell me where MS-Access (current and 97?) fit(s) on the RDBMS - ORDBMS - ODBMS spectrum? I gather it's relational, but how does it size up against/follow SQL2/3/4 definitions and how does it compare to other database vendors? Any articles that might be of interest? It's for an essay on database models... Thanks in advance, Alex

I had two TIME fields that i wanted to know the difference in between them. I saw TIMESTAMPDIFF but nothing equivalent for TIME. Further, i want HH:MM:SS format. So, i wrote this FUNCTION. Is there a better way to do it? CREATE FUNCTION TimeDiff(Time_1 TIME, Time_2 TIME) RETURNS TIME SPECIFIC TimeDiff DETERMINISTIC

I am using SQL 2000 and/or SQL 2005 to link to an Oracle Db using OPENQUERY. The SQL 2000 box is SP4 on Win2000. I can run a query thru Q.A. for SQL 2000 or I can run an Oracle query thru SQL-Plus to see the data. But, if I run a date-query using the linked server then SQL Server returns a TIME that is off by 4 hours. SQL Query: SELECT * FROM OPENQUERY( ORASERVER, 'SELECT MYDATE FROM MYTABLE')

sub: MS SQL server and (missing) ANSI DATE-datatype I’m working at a company who has developed a large client/server application in Delphi 6, with Interbase as the DB-server (both Borland products). As data-access technology we use dbExpress (from Borland) because it is claimed to be database-independent. Now we have a new customer who wants to use MS SQL-server and I investigated if this was possible. Unfortunately my conclusion is that it...

I'm relatively new to MSSQL and finding it difficult to find information on how to search for datatypes. I have several MSSQL DB's I'm using as datasources for reporting and need to find out which are using the timestamp Datatype. Does anyone know how I can search all DB's simultaneously retrieving information about which contain the timestamp Datatype and it's location?

I found this example in MYSQL: create table events ( id integer not null primary key , datetime_start datetime not null , datetime_end datetime not null ); insert into events values ( 1, '2006-09-09 14:00', '2006-09-09 16:00' ) ,( 2, '2006-09-10 09:00', '2006-09-10 17:00' ) ,( 3, '2006-09-11 13:30', '2006-09-11 14:45' )

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
