Help with trouble on VPN setup on Linksys router for Nortel i2004 phone

2 New Member
Good day. I work form home, so our tech guy set up a VPN using Cisco WRT31ON router to connect Nortel i2004 phone to the office system. The Nortel tech did the initial set up and the phone works fine inside the office. Once we tried the phone outside the office (through VPN router), the phone connected no problem, we see calls incoming, we can dial out, all the features work, but there is no voice or tone on the phone. Please help us see if we are on right track: a public address of the router we use was NOT set up in NAT-System settings of the phone system. Is this where we gone wrong? Will therefore the voice data be routed to default IP, and not our Cisco Router? I hope this makes at least some sense.. Thanks for any response

I'm sorry, I don't have much experience with phones, either PBX or VOIP, but the things I have found online suggest it may be either a Signaling Server issue or a DSP issue.

I would recommend going to the manufacturer on this, and looking through any support forums or sites they may provide.
