what command do you use to send messages across a network from the command line interface? Also how do you use it?

@KingKen
That would depend. What type of messages do you want to send, to what type of computer, using what protocol, etc?

I assume you are on windows (since 90% of the world uses that os), then you can use the net send command. Mind you, this will only work if the service is enabled on the receiving end of the computer (by default this is disabled since winXP sp2 I think)

I used to like Objective-C and Gnustep, but I gave up for lack of support and recognition of the language/platform under Unix. But it did offer NSNotifications, a basic message class that could be posted and received by all subscribers. Other than global variables used to share data across threads, does Python have anything similar? jonathon

I want to develop a Client/Server messaging system that does not require Microsoft messaging. I want to use the .Net remoting, but I am having some real problems with the remoting. The remoting really seems to be a one way street in terms of messaging. Ex.( The Client can communicate with the server and get information back from the server, but the server cannot make a call to the client unless you set up another remoting session were the...

Read below for previous conversation. We are developing an application that will some day run on anything from a computer down to a PDA (this is were the Lightweight comes in). The messaging that we want to send will be very straightforward. If one of the clients has changed some data, the other clients need to know about it. If the clients are not on line then the message may have to wait until they are on line. The messages

After spending a little time reading the documentation, I attempted to add some messaging code to my VB.Net project, only to discover that I couldn't get past my Imports System.Messaging statment because the System.Messaging namespace is missing. Did I fat finger it into oblivion without knowing it, or is this a known issue? Any suggestions on how to fix this, in any case?

Given a backend on a network server and a frontend on a local computer, when is data pulled across the network? For example, does Rst.Recordcount pull data across the network? How about Rst.Findfirst? When a form or report opens, do they pull all the data in the recordsource across the network? Thank you for your help! Corrine

Okay here's the situation. What I'm looking for, is a sort of generic wrapper or API that will allow me to build threads with some kind of messaging system attached with it. The idea is that these individual threads will each handle small messages to each other, where each thread managed to perform a seperate operation, yet their may be some inter-dependance. This is a Network based application, it recieves messages from client...

I am looking for a networkwide messaging system to announce server reboots, etc. To implement various custom features, I would much rather roll my own than use an out-of-the-box type of app. Because my company has a very strict, industry regulated archival policy, I would like to avoid using email (which relies on the user having Outlook up and running anyway, not always a safe bet.) Using VB.NET 2.0, I've written an app that uses MSMQ...

Hi All, I am developing web service that does not use IIS, I was successful on deploying a normal web service with System.Data and System.Web namespaces. BUT when I added the System.Messaging and deploy my windows service - I am getting this error while accessing the ASMX test form * I have tried the following already. 1. Remove and Add the System.Messaging from "Reference" 2. System.Messaging does exist from the GAC.

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
