What do you mean by "Directly Link"?

As in you want to transfer files?

uhh, yes. By means of using something physical (like a cord), although if there is something I can use over the internet....

Do you have a router? You can set up a simple LAN. Just plug both computers into the router. You should be able to access the files on the other computer using this syntax:
\\computername\ share

A cross-over cable will allow you to connect the computers by directly plugging the cable into the network ports. Just ask at your local computer store, they know how to make the cables.

If you want to connect them directly, you'll need a crossed Ethernet cable and then you'll have to set both systems up. There's an article on how to do that here, although they're using Linux. But you should be able to make those settings in the Windows Network Administration window.

Of course, the router-method that insertAlias posted may be easier, as it requires less configuration.

Greetings,

Seeing as how this is a networking question I'm going to move it to the "Network" forum, incase there are other users who are looking to do the same thing.

For the hassle of connecting them via crossover cable I would recommend just buying a cheap hub as it will be so much easier. Some things struggle to work over crossover anyway. For example red alert 2 (as old as it is) does not like to work over crossover cable.

I have a recruiter website listing jobs. Some postings having email links directly to the employer (instead of the usual email link to the recruiter owner). The owner wishes to track when people reply directly to employers. So I have an ASP script (it looks like an email link but fires of an ASP) that has to do 2 things - insert an entry in the database noting this reply, and open the email client for the user to send directly to the...

I'm new to XSL and am trying to pass a variable from a link on an HTML page to a page containing XSL that needs to receive the parameter. So, I'm thinking I need something like this: 1. A link with a parameter: http://www.host.com/receivingpage.htm?category=computers 2. A way for the XSL on the "receivingpage.htm" to be able to grab the "computers" value from the link and use it in the rest of the XSL

I've seen a page using display, and especially display table that did some neat things with boxes, but basically it only worked with Mozilla browsers. Fell over fairly badly with Opera and Safari (I don't have IE, but I have my suspicions that wouldn't work either). I'd like to use CSS to put some boxes down the middle of a page. The page is intended to be fluid, but the boxes all need to be the same width, which can be variable...

Please help. I have two databases - one I'm designing that will be our in-house data mgmt system (db1) and another that is a federally-mandated system (db2). We must submit data from db2 but don't want to use this db for our data mgmt needs. Some of the fields in db1 are shared with db2 but the structure and field names are different. When I'm updating/creating records in db1 I want it to see if the record exists in db2 (shared ID number),...

Ok , developing a .aspx page with Visual Web Studio (the full page is at the bottom). Basically its a page that displays all my computers and the current logged on user pulling data from a live Altiris database. This works fine, i have added a feature with a link for me to click to run radmin against that computer so i can remote control it. The link shows properly when I hover over it "S:\apps\!drivers\WindowsETC\rview.bat PCNAME". ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
