XHTML question

If I wanted to write web pages from now on in XHTML instead of HTML does
this namespace alone work ? Or does a !DOC need to be somewhere?

<html xmlns="www.w3c.org/1999/xhtml>
Is that all thats' needed or should I say essential for an xhtml page?

The namespace URI for XHTML is <http://www.w3c.org/1999/xhtml>.

Have a look at the XHTML specifications to read what makes a conformant
XHTML document.
