limiting combobox

3 New Member
Newbie question:

I have a bunch of comboboxes, and I only want the user to be able to accept a value in the list. I want them to be able to type in the field and have it auto position to the corresponding value in the list which works nicely, but how do I validate that the entry is one of the list items while they are typing?

For instance:
if the values are [Brian, Frank, Jeff, Martin] and they type JEFF it positions to JEFF, but if they type JEFFR, it stops positioning, but allows the entry.

Any suggestions?

Have you looked at the Auto Complete Properties for a combo box? Or is that not what you're looking for?

Well, there are ways to force a combo box to behave like a standard drop down list, but you won't be able to type in it. What you can do, is handle the "OnLeave" event, and then iterate through all the entries in the list and compare it to the current value.
