How do I set up an email client to send and receive IMAP emails?

My company recently changed its email to an Microsoft Exchange server. I use
an email client called !ntellect made by Chaos Software. The problem I'm
having is that I can't figure out which ports to use for both incoming and
outgoing email on different computers that I use. For example, on one
computer I was able to use port 993 for to receive IMAP SSL mail but it
doesn't work on another. On one computer I was able to send email using port
143 but not on another. On another computer, though I had a "successful
connection" on a test it wouldn't download messages. Does anybody have any
idea what the possible ports are that I should be trying?

I am, by the way, running Windows XP on all the computers, three of them are
desktops and one a notebook, each of the connects to the internet through a
different ISP (one is my company's servers, one is through Road Runner,
another through Verizon.net and a third through Fairpoint.net, if any of that
makes difference.

The Exchange server administrator(s) should be able to provide the info you
need. Have you talked to them?

Unfortunately he was of no help at all. He basically said, "not my problem."
