Do you have ASP tags in your <head> section?
(eg do you have <head> <% .... %> </head> at all?)

What is the error message you are getting?

If you just want a message box then try calling this function:
Expand|Select|Wrap|Line Numbers
  1.  Private Sub Message(ByVal sMessage As String)
  2.     Dim myscript As String = "alert('" & sMessage & "');"
  3.     Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(Me.GetType(), "myscript", myscript, True)
  4. End Sub
  5.
Hope this helps,

Dr B
