General Questions on .NET

Dear all,

I am new to .NET (only 1 year or so). I have been using VB.NET to develop new apps. or upgrading the good old VB apps to VB.NET for my company. I use VB.NET only because I come from a long time VB background.

I was wondering if switching to ASP.NET using C# would open more potential or opportunity in application development?

ASP.NET vs VB.NET does not make too much of a difference for the company and company's customers.

The only flip side to use ASP.NET for me is to get fluent on it and get to know the other web stuff (like JavaScript, HTML, CSS...)

Again this is pretty pre-mature question, without investigating too much... that is why I am here to ask you pros...

C# developers on average have a higher salary that VB.NET developers. Not entirely sure why this is (or seems to be).source You can still use ASP.NET and VB.NET together to create web applications and in turn learn to use (javascript, HTML, CSS, ...). Find an application currently written in classic ASP that is used by your company. Now rewrite the application using VB.NET and another version in C#. Then go over the code differences and see which was easier or more efficient.
