Confusion between ASP.Net and VB.Net...New user and Urgent

16 New Member
Hello,

We are doing the project in VB.Net.
We had a great confusion for ASP.Net and VB.Net.

Is VB.Net project performed in Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 ??
We have created forms in ASP.Net Website selecting the language as Visual Basic in Visual 2005.
We want to do the VB.Net project for the central server of the company.
Is it can be done as mentioned above ??

Is VB.Net the language used only or some other....(code behind language)

What is the designing of the forms called in VB.NET(only design part)

In C# we tell the designing is performed with the ASP.Net....(code behind is C#,J# or someother)
Can we tell in VB.Net the same that designing is done in ASP.NET and coded in language VB.

Are Vb.Net projects run on the localhost thru IIS ???

Please help me to remove our confusion. We have searched it but some are telling that what we are performing is totally wrong...So,tell the name of the software and under what the VB.Net project is to be done......

So,pls help us we are in urgent..........

I am a new member to this forum.Hope to get a suitable reply from the users...

Thanxs..

waiting for the answers......

Hi Riaaa, welcome to the Scripts!

Visual Studio 2005 is a development tool that can be used to create and develop VB.Net and ASP.NET website applications.

Visual Basic will be the language that is used to do calculations on the server. Your ASP.Net pages will submit information to the server which will do some calculations and return information to the browser.

What is the designing of the forms called in VB.NET(only design part)
Your forms will be generated for you by Visual Studio. They are driven by ASP and HTML technology. All you have to do is add the form fields etc.

In C# we tell the designing is performed with the ASP.Net....(code behind is C#,J# or someother)
Can we tell in VB.Net the same that designing is done in ASP.NET and coded in language VB.
Visual Studio will handle this for you...but you are correct. There will be a line at the top of your ASPX page (if you look at it in its html format) which is the ASP code that connects this page to your VB.NET source code.

Are Vb.Net projects run on the localhost thru IIS ???
Visual Studio 2005 has its own test platform that will act as your web server. You can publish your website to your localhost IIS if you'd like. I strongly recommend you publish your site to your localhost IIS to do proper testing since the one provided with Visual Studio 2005 lets you do some things that the real IIS wouldn't let you do.

If you're using Visual Studio 2003, your project will be run on your localhost IIS and it is required.

So, yes, VB.NET projects run on localhost through IIS.

Please help me to remove our confusion. We have searched it but some are telling that what we are performing is totally wrong...So,tell the name of the software and under what the VB.Net project is to be done......
You really want to be using Visual Studio .Net to develop your project.

So,pls help us we are in urgent..........
