Question regarding oneway attribute of webmethod.

Hi all,

I am having one confusion regarding webmethod's fire and forget
behaviour.

Say suppose i have method like

[ SoapRpcMethod(OneWay=true) ]
[ WebMethod(Description="Starts nightly stats batch process.") ]
public void StartStatsCrunch() {
// Begin a process that takes a long time to complete.
}

StartStatsCrunch contains some long running code say more than 1 hours.

My client which is windows application has invoked this methods. So my
question is suppose i close my windows application what will happen
with this remote call. Will it continue its execution. Or is there any
link between client's thread and thread on which my webmethod is
running.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Hi,

When a web method is one way, the client does not expect a response message.
As you said, it is fire and forget, if you close the application, the
service will continue executing.
