Xml Serialization/Generics

Iam having a class like

public class GenericCol<T>:List<T>
{
private ArrayList innerList = new ArrayList();
public GenericCol() {}

public ArrayList InnerList
{
get { return innerList; }
set { innerList = value; }
}

new public bool Remove(T item)
{
if(base.Remove(item))
{
innerList.Add(item);
return true;
}
return false;
}
}

When i serialize this class, the InnerList property never get
serialized.., Iam expecting a node like <InnerList></InnerList>

am I missing something, is it not possible ?

any help would be greatly appreciated.

regards

New for .net framework 2.0 is version tolerant serialization. To use this new feature, do I also need to use the new generics types for collections, e.g. SortedList? Thanks, Dennis
