Packaging Web Services

Hi,

I am new to the web services. We have a web application that we package and
sell. In our next release we want to use web services which will run on
client's web server and client application potentially on a different client
machine. I am having issues referencing the web services used by client
machine. On my development machine both run on the same machine. So when I
call web services I can use http://localhost/default.asmx but on the client
machine that may not be the case.

Any ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Salil

Hi Salil,

when you add the web reference to your client project make sure to select
URL Behavior to Dynamic instead of Static. That will cause a entry in client
..config file to show up and the client can modify the location of the web
service. You still have to provide a way to set the location during the
installation of your client for example. Or if this is not an issue, the
user can just change client's .config file by hand.
Regards,
