HTTP GET error with Webservices and .NET 2.0

I've created a simple webservice that I'm trying to call via the syntax:

http://directory/WebServiceName.asmx...?param1=value1

This works for a colleague's webservice running in 1.1, but when I run mine
under 2.0 I get the following error:

"Request format is unrecognized for URL unexpectedly ending in /WebMethodName"

Does anyone know why this is occuring in 2.0? I'm going to create the
service and run it with 1.1 and see if that helps, but I need to get it
working with the new framework, and I need to invoke it via the HTTP GET. Any
help would be appreciated. Thank you!
