Removing a corrupt .NET 2.0 Beta

When I am try to remove a corrupt .NET 2,0 Beta. the controlPanel/AddRemove
programs wizard tells me that the file netfx.msi is not valid. I have
extracted the file from dotNetFx.exe from two different locations within MS
(I was told that there are two different versions), but both versions failed.

This is preventing me from installing the other express tools.

You can never depend on any piece of beta software's ability to uninstall
itself. As has been said again and again, we are advised never to install
beta software onto a hard drive partition that we are not prepared to toast
if necessary.

Not much help for you, but there you are...

Found the problem:

There were two different versions of .NET 2.0 Beta, both with the same
names, but with different version numbers; unaware I was supplying the wrong
version.

This happened because different people installed the different versions of
the .NET 2.0 Beta, one of which did not complete the install due to a power
failure.

The two versions are

..NET 2.0.40426 (May 2004)

and

..NET 2.0.40607 (June 1004)
