I am researching the value of purchasing Crystal Reports 9 over using
the version of Crystal included with Visual Studio.
I am currenly using Visual Studio.NET with C#, writing web
applications, and have created many reports with Visual Studio's
version of Crystal for export to pdf format.
So far, I have been able to do pretty much what I need to do with the
Visual Studio version of Crystal; however, there really seem to be
limited controls and functions, and I have run into a few cases where
I can't seem to produce the type of report a user requires.
Today I got a demo version of Crystal Reports 9, and from the little I
have seen of it, there doesn't seem to be all that much more to it
than the Visual Studio version. For example, I expected to see a
larger range of controls, rather than just the label, line and box.
Having worked with Cognos in the past, I am surprised that that is the
extent of the controls.
Can anyone point me to something on the Web that points out the
advantages of Crystal 9 as opposed to Crystal Reports.NET, keeping in
mind that I am using this solely for the creation of pdf's from my web
apps.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
