Deploying a web service

Guys a little please,

I'm creating a windows application that uses a webservice and WSE1.0 to talk
to a database, currently this works fine when using localhost, I now want to
test the deployment of this webservice on another server (inhouse) so I know
it will work when I come to put the webservice on to the webserver
(external), I have used the copy project wizard in VB2K3 using file share
and it puts the files on to the server, when I try to add a web reference to
this copy of the web service I get the error "server error in 'webserviceWS'
application the resource cannot be found, http 404 error.

thanks

Hi Duncan,

Welcome to webservice newsgroup.
Regarding on the webservice deployment issue, I think we can check whether
it is the server setting (IIS) that cause this... Have you tried directly
using IE to view the webservice's asmx link to see whether it display well?
If this not work, we have to check the IIS's ASP.NET server
configuration.... e.g whether the asp.net is correctly registered or
whether the asp.net 1.1 server extension is enabled.... Also, the IIS log
is also helpful one we can check....

Anyway, please feel free to post here if you anything else found.....

Regards,
