Anybody Having Problems Downloading VS2005? File Transfer Manager Problems?

After the last six days trying to download VS2005 Professional it seems
there may be a problem with my instance of the File Transfer Manager (FTM)
or somewhere in the network in between. I can't even download the measely
1.5MB GIF animator which is in the Tools folder at subscriber downloads. The
FTM keeps recycling with retries until it finally times out regardless of
the configuration settings.

I've been talking with MSDN Customer Service all morning. Anybody else had
any problems downloading when using the File Transfer Manager?

I downloaded both CD images for VS2005 and the two for SQL 2005 and the
DVD image for the MSDN library over the weekend with only one minor problem
(each download had to be from a fresh IE invocation). Other than that it was
fine.

There have certainly been problems, just t'uther day I was getting a
download error and I contacted the MSDN team - tied from two different
machines that I know worked perfectly. They couldn't actually help, but
persistence paid off and finally the download kicked in from both machines
transfer managers.

I think the downlaod servers are still very busy.

Same here -- I've been trying on two different machines and still no joy --
did your instance of the File Transfer Manager go through what seemed to be
endless cycles of retries until the max retry connection settings expired
throwing an error suspending the transfer and compelling the selection of
the resume button?

I'm having a difficult time accepting I still can't catch a connection on
those mornings I've been trying at 5:00 AM %-(

Clinton,

Using 5.00 Am from your place says nothing the whole world is downloading so
that is probably noon in the most busy places from Europe.

If it is really busy try than the time that it is in Hawai noon

I know what your saying Cor but 5:00 AM is early in the morning no matter
what time zone it is. Why try Hawaii time? That is a funny suggestion.

I just need to try to determine if others are having a similar experience so
I can try to determine if my instance of the File Transfer Manager (FTM) is
functioning reliably. It wouldn't be the first time the problem was with the
client software. So I tried uninstalling and letting subscription downloads
send me new bits for the FTM but it looks like there is still one or more
files left from the old instance I was not able to find or whack off the
machine because the new instance still showed the same connections settings
as the old instance and I destroyed all cookies and temp files before
installing the new instance so there has to be some garbage left on the
machine.

So I tried on a different machine and that instance will not make a
connection either. Okay, there's still a lot of traffic from all over the
world still trying to make a connection.
