I want to set the Default value of a Combobox for any changeable record and have got this working but it is totaly unsatisfactory
see the code below
I loop through the items in the Combo looking for a match between cVal and the selectedValue then stop when I do have a match
the obvious problem is that each iteration fires the selectedIndexChanged but also for a large list this will slow everything down.
There must be a better way

This is a repost of an item that I still cannot resolve.
I have 3 combo boxes. The first leads to the second to the third.
When I have selected a value in the second box, the third box shows the
available information based on the second combo box selection. But if I
change my mind and select a different item in the second box, after the
third box has been populated, the third box still retains the information
that was previously...

Good Morning,
I have a combobox whose list is bound to DataSet1.Sales Growth
Options.Sales Growth. The data is double and I would like it
displayed as a percentage. I have tried two things:
1. I bound the data using DataSource and DisplayMember and then used
the following code:
Private Sub FormatPercent(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As

Hello Everyone,
I would like to format the Display Members of a combobox's datasource. Is
there a way to apply a format without subclassing the original datasource?
For example, given a list of decimal values, format them as currency values
with a leading currency symbol and 2 decimal places.
TIA

I am trying to format the strings in a combobox dropdown list into columns.
I can use a fixed font like Courier New and make it work, but I would like
to use the SetTabStops method of the StringFormat class so the list can be
displayed with the original combobox font.
I've tried a number of approaches without success. Is there a method for
doing this?

Thanks for your help.

I'm not entirely sure how to describe this issue. I have a number of
ComboBoxes in my application which have their text properties bound to a
field in a data set. The items loaded in the ComboBox are not data bound
(they just use the built in collection property of the ComboBox), and
they are all set to use the DropDownList style. When moving from record
to record via a BindingNavigator or a DataGridView (in master/detail
format), the text...

Can anyone help me about how to create combo box with its items as
checked boxes or radio buttons. This has to be done in C#. I have seen
something similar to this named custom combo boxes but they are in MFC
I have to remain constrained only in C#.
I have tried to add checked listbox in combobox drop down list but it
is showing in text format i.e. name of the control added, if I change
display property of combobox with some property of...

I'm baffled by this -- is there not a typed object used for ComboBox Items?
Best I can tell, all of the methods for ComboBox that accept an Item are of
type Object. Why in the world is a common/standard .NET control accepting
an Object as a parameter type?
In Web Forms, there is a ListItem object that can be passed in to
add/retrieve objects from a DropDownItems collection. I searched Google
groups, and all the solutions I'm finding...

I have a combobox whose rowsource is a union query. This query
displays a person's name in "lastname, firstname" format and in
"firstname lastname" format. The query results look like this:
Mouse, Mickey
Mickey Mouse
When a person is added, the querys' underlying recordset is updated in
the NotInList event. I can't figure out how to refresh the combobox
to display the new person. I get the standard error message that the

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
