Timeout and database is non operational

Hi
I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86)
Developer edition (build 2600: Service Pack 1)

Database File Size is allocated as 7GB
Transaction Log as 200MB (Database is set to increase by 10%)

I am inserting bunch of records (each record size is around 320KB and its continuous insert) into one of the table.

When total number of records in the table reaches 10287 the insert operation times out
(Error message: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding) and the entire database becomes inconsistent, I cannot add records into any table anymore.
Please note that other tables (around 30 tables) also have data in them.
I am using VB.net and ADO.net and I am inserting records using Stored Procedure. (Even if i insert records using OLEDBCommand object same problem occurs)

I havent changed any timeout values (so using default values).

Anybody knows reasons and solution for this problem?

Your help is appreciated.

Thanks
Arun
