Hi Experts,
from my program I offer the user to launch different files from a directory
(normaly in this directory are .txt files) - but sometimes other files may
be in there - so if my program receives the "no program associated" I would
like to launch the standard Windows dialogue that pops up when double
clicking a file in windows explorer that has no association.
Thanks for any hints !

Hi
1) Is it possible to force browser to open image in default windows
application? That is what specifies in Folder Options for jpg extension.
2) Also if the 1) is possible is it possible to send few jpg files at the
same time.
The problem that I am facing is that the client needs to print some files
that are saved on the server. Usually before printing user needs to resize
them. It would be the best if image opens right away in the...

Considering that UNIX Network Programming, Vol 1 (by W. Richard Stevens)
recommends "_All_ TCP servers should specify to allow the
server to be restarted ," and that
self.allow_reuse_address = False makes restarting a server a pain if there
were connected clients, why does SocketServer default allow_reuse_address
to False? It's kind of bemusing to subclass ThreadingTCPServer just to
change one variable that arguably should have been True...

I can't find it anywhere. And if you don't have it, how do you
override WndProc? Don't you need the window messages?

I have figured out how to add custom menu items to various buildin
context menus by looking at a project on CodeProject.com and then
doing some registry searches.
But I can't find how to add a complex menu item, that is, a menu item
that has a submenu, or possibly a sub-submenu.
I also cannot figure out how to tell windows just where in the menu
the new menu item should appear, or how to add a new separator line to
setoff the new menu...

I have customers who install our product and then set the screen resolution
to a crappy resolution so things don't display on the screen correctly. I'd
like to know what the default monitor setting is set to. I'd also like to
know what windows has detected as the default screen res.
I'd also like to find out information about what monitor is hooked up to the
computer. I realize this isn't always right but I'd like to know what
windows is...

I have a form (frmEmployees) with one control (Name) and on it is a subform (subHours) with 4 fields/controls where I can put some data, and one very important field (HoursName). HoursName is set to the default value of the only field on the main form.
My desire is to scroll through our list of employees and enter hours for each one. The subform will contain all the data to save (the employees name and the hours each one worked). I have...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
