I am busy packaging our product as a standard Setup project in VS.NET that uses a bunch of merge modules (basically, a merge module for every key infrastructure component in our system). Part of the installation needs to "dump" a bunch of files (third party product's project files) to the user's system. These files are transient in nature in that the user may choose

What's the difference between a Solution and a Project in .NET? FWIU, a solution could contain more than one project, like a project group, which may also be of different .NET languages. I need a confirmation of my belief in the form of some commentary from the documentation or some other URL or from you guys who know.

What are the other things that should take care when we implement a memory manager , like i) garabage collector kind of thing , ii) Safe Free of pointer in wrapper of Free functions etc . Thanks Uday

I am incorporating three existing programs into a new "all in one" program. I have added the three projects to the new all in one project. How do I instruct the new initial menu to launch the main menu in each one? I have tried using the DIM statement with .ShowDialog, however, the forms are not recognized as they are listed in seperate projects. Please advise. Thanks, Dr. S.

I have created numerous Setup projects with Visual Studio 2005. I have a current solution that is fairly complex with numerous projects. It contains two primary applications so there are two setup projects. The setup project for the first application works fine, it removes the previous version automatically just fine as long as I have incremented the Version property. But the more recent Setup project for the second application refuses to...

So let's say I've created a Folder called "MyVBNet Classes" to hold these general-use VB.Net class files that I will eventually associate with various Projects I create. Now let's imagine I've created a class called "MyClass.vb" that...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
