There are many resources to come up to speed on XBRL.

You can find information about XBRL from the primary International web
site (www.xbrl.org) as well as jurisdictional web sites. (You do not
state what country you are from.) Public meetings are good places to
learn about XBRL in person. The next XBRL International meeting is in
Boston at the end of April 2005 (http://www.xbrl.org/Boston/) and will
offer a number of tutorial and training sessions.

There are a wide variety of articles available online - you may wish to
Google "introducti on XBRL" or "tutorial XBRL". The Bryant University
web site (web.bryant.edu/~xbrl) has links to a wide variety of
educational resources and links to articles.

There are a number of taxonomies already available for tagging
financial statements. You can find the list of taxonomies at various
levels of approval and completion listed on the XBRL web site. If the
financial statement is in one of the GAAPs already developed (various
US GAAP, IFRS, Japan, Germany, etc.), you don't have to - and shouldn't
- create your own taxonomy. You may need to extend or customize the
public taxonomy to meet the organization's specific needs; XBRL has
specific rules on how to do this.

The instance document is the corporate business data tagged with the
elements from the taxonomy. How do you create an instance document from
Excel? There are a number of Excel-based add-ins that help in this
area. You may wish to look at Rivet Software's Dragon Tag
(www.rivetsoftware.com) for one popular solution.

If you wish to create your own taxonomy, you may wish to use specific
tooling for that purpose. You can download tools from a number of
vendors, such as the Fujitsu tools available at
http://software.fujitsu.com/en/inter...ols/index.html.

I've seen old messages about this, but no solution. Has anyone been able to use the schemas downloadable from www.xbrl.org with the xsd.exe tool? Or modified them to make them acceptable? Thanks for any info.

I am working on an application which reads, writes and generates XBRL-compliant documents. XBRL makes extensive use of XLink in creating these documents. I have so far been unable to ascertain the current support for XLink provided by the System.XML classes. In short, my question is: What is the current level of support for XLink provided by the .NET XML parsers in .NET 1.1 or .NET 2.0? Thanks,

I'd like to know what management and the work environment are like where you work. I need something relative to compare my current work environment. Here's a few questions I have: 1.) Is it normal for (technical) management (actually 1 of 2 co owners) to constantly interrupt developers all day with with questions such as: "can we look at this", "I found this, can we try it now", "Can we see what these guys are doing", "can we change...

I am currently developing an xbrl validation software that takes an xml instance file and a lot of schemas(xsd files) and validates it against the xsd files. I am using Visual basic in visual studio 2005. I have managed to cycle through the xml file , validate most of the variables, however, i have some problems with the namespaces of some attributes. For example, in my xml instance file, it says: <xbrldi:typedMember...

I have an application that needs to perform some background work, i.e. Logging, wich must not block the main thread. How would I basically design such a scenario? It is obvious that I should do that on an extra thread but I think it is a bad idea to spawn a new thread everytime a log-message is written and let it die once the message was written. But how do I keep a thread alive and trigger the log-messages and pass the string to that...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
