Converting XML schema to relational DB schema

Hello,

I have created some XML schemas for my company's data. I now need to
convert these to relational databasse schemas. Does anyone know of
tools that will do this?

I have been working with XMLSpy and tried their conversion routine.
It does work, but it assumes a high degree of normalization is
desired. It does the conversion its way, and there is no abillity to
intervene in the process.

Oracle has XML tools. Do any of these handle relational DB creation
from an XML Schema?

Thanks for any help.

Yes, Oracle XDB will create tables from your schema. Version
9.2.-.5.0 has a bug, but 10.1.0 look s good so far.

Hi - I searched quite a bit now but still it seems that one topic was never brought up on oracles xml handling (9i btw). Could anybody tell me how it is possible to create a table out of a xml schema (I don't care about the format the xml must have - the important thing is it being xml)? I can add data to the table using xml, get the schema out in xml and so on but there seems no topic that handles automatic table creation using a xml...

Hello, does anyone know of a way/solution how to convert XML Schema documents into DTD? I am aware of the fact that such a conversion won't be possible under certain circumstances and that probably some information loss will occur (esp. data types). However, in many cases it should be possible to obtain at least the structure of the XSD. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. --

Hi all I'm in the process of upgrading a job from .mdb to .adp->msde & am reconsidering some aspects of the design of me schema while I'm at it. One of the tasks of this job is to schedule the loading and unloading of trucks. For this the scheduler needs to see the load on the truck, before and after loading, i.e. Opening Load + Variation To Load = Resulting Load. The relation ship between these figures and other attributes form the...

I designed a schema in VS C# 2005 Express and am wondering why it chooses to place a sequence tag around the elements of a table. And additionally, if I move the elements around within the table, the sequences in the *.xsd are not rearranged, but are left as is(in the order in which the elements were created in the table). Being a noob to xml, I'm just wondering: 1. Why is the sequence tag automatically added? 2. Why is it not updated...

I'm using an xml schema (XSD) that has a point data in it, so when I'm saving the schema (from memory with values) to an XML file, the point value is saved in the form of: "{X=12, Y=34}" And that is very good. Also when I'm loading the XML file with the schema to a DataSet, this "{X=12, Y=34}" is converted nicely to a point. I wish to do this same conversion from "{X=12, Y=34}" string pattern to a point in memory (without XML schema),...

Hello I'm a newbie to this and I need help, please My question is, we currently have a IDMS db and will be converting to DB2. What are the things I should do? The IDMS has not been documented very well, and there are a number of duplicate fields. I was thinking about documenting all the tables with fields attributes, and documenting the fields to the 150 screens in this program. We also that about doing a CRUD matrix to see what it...

I wonder instead of just brainstorming, there probably is a very standard and a simple way to do database schema design. let's say we are doing a website. the user can go over and type in the movie name and zipcode, and the website will return all the theaters showing that movie and at what time, for theaters in THAT zipcode only (for simplicity). so how do we just start and use a standard method that can be simple and very accurate...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
