I had a play with XML-RPC the other day, and it seemed really simple
to use; which really made an impression on me. But you can't make data
persist on the server (not without rolling your own mechanism, at any
rate). I'm thinking here about thin clients, where the main process
runs on a server.
Is there any free solution to this problem? Is SOAP the answer?

I unerstand that if you choose IIS to host your .Net Remotingcomponents with HTTP channel and SOAP formatter, you get thebuilt-in security and configuraion features of IIS. Also we canexpose it to use for the web services clients. But using HTTPwith SOAP has got the least performance amoung all others (exTCP with Binary etc).
The question is what are the advantages of using http with SOAPover http with Binary formatter?

Hi!
We have a Web Service written in ATL Server and a client written in Java
using Axis. When something goes wrong on the server side, it returns an
HRESULT of the error which is translated into the SoapFault. The problem is
that the SoapFault is interpreted by Axis not as a SoapFaultException, but
as a more generic AxisFault exception with all the info we put in the soap
fault lost.
Has anyone manage to get this to work? Please...

Hi,
Im using vis studio 2003 and I think wse is out of the question as clients
could be using java which doesnt support it. So I managed to find some code
which allows you to develop a custom soap header called by using a http
module. The problem Im having is I cannot seem to get the event to raise to
fire off my authenticate method in the global.asax. The module is plumbed in
to my web.config file

1) you can't use soap-envelope namespace with application specific
<element>?
since soap schema have not define namespace (env) can use with <MyElement>
inside soap schema -->

I have a gSoap Web Service written using C++, it uses SOAP username and
password authentication.
I also have a C# form client consuming the web service, all this was working
fine until I added the authentication on the server, now I can not get the
client to authenticate. Can someone tell me how to add authentication info

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
