I am trying to use AUTH_USER from request.servervariables but the field is
blank. I am using Windoze server 2003 with IIS5. I know there is a fix
because I did it a long time ago with our old NT server running IIS4 but I
cant remember how I got it to work. We are all authenticated users on our
Domain so this is available, I am able to get IP info and such. I seem to
remember some kind of ASP code that did the fix by altering the way the web...

I am using an application which is a modification of IBuySpy Portal.
It is using Forms authentication. Users login and their name is added

Then I use:
Web.HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name
to write audit trail as to what users do. Now recently on one of the
activities I noticed that the

Hi gang,
This one looks like a bug :o(
As you may or may not know, setting session management in web.config to use
cookieless sessions causes the ASP.NET runtime to munge a session ID into
the URL, in the format http://yourapplicationpath/(Session.SessionID)/...
which saves numerous headaches when it comes to storing state across page
requests and sessions.

Hi,
I have a dev machine, part of a domain, with a site set to Integrated
security only. I want to determine the username of person accessing the
page. When I run the page with the following code:
Response.Write(Request.ServerVariables);
Response.Write("<BR>");
Response.Write(HttpContext.Current.User.Identity.Name);

Today I learned that creating cookies inside of a custom class in ASP.NET
2.0 requires that you prefix it with HttpContext.Current..., e.g. :
HttpContext.Current.Response.Cookies.Add("myNewCookie");
I am wondering if there are any landmines that I should know about, or if
this will work pretty much as I am expecting a cookie should.

I've been following the "ASP.NET Custom Error Pages" article
(http://www.aspnetresources.com/articles/CustomErrorPages.aspx), but when I
implement either subscribing to base.Error or overriding base.OnError an
empty page is returned to the client browser.
During debugging, the event fires fine, and the page has the right controls
loaded, but ASP.NET just isn't rendering them (So a blank page is returned
to the client browser).
This is...

Hi,
I apologise that this isn't *specifically* an ASP.NET issue - I will also
post it to the IIS newsgroup - but I thought I'd ask here anyway on the
off-chance that someone may have come across this before...
It's an intranet system written in ASP.NET v1.1 using C#. The site is
running on IIS6 on Win2k3S with all the SPs and patches etc.
The Session_Start interrogates the AUTH_USER server variable to identify the

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
