Hi,
is it possible to modify the values of a SqlDataSource's select parameters
in the code behind before the select command is executed?
Example:
I have an SqlDataSource with a ControlParameter
<asp:SqlDataSource ID="SqlDataSource1" runat="server"
ConnectionString="<%$ ConnectionStrings:XYZ %>"

I've chosen to implement the "optimistic concurrency" model in my
application. To assist in that, I've added a ROWVERSION (TIMESTAMP) column to
my main tables. I read the value of the column in my select, remember it, and
then use it in the update. It works just fine when I have full control of the
whole process.
I want to do the same for my GridView/SqlDataSource combinations. I
typically select from a view and update the corresponding...

When you use a SqlDataSource to hook up data to a GridView it seems to
be to be very inflexible. For example, I want to create my own Delete
button with my own code and I also want to create a popup warning for
the user before delete takes place. Whenever I do this with a
SqlDataSource, I get the error 'Deleting is not supported by data source
'SqlDataSource1' unless DeleteCommand is specified.' Which means I have
to specify a sproc or...

I'm building some user controls. I very much like how you can build custom
properties to be bound to a user control, and how instances of that control
will show those custom properties in the VS.NET IDE.
I've made a user control -- let's call it MyUserControl.ascx -- with a
DataGrid and an SqlDataSource. The SqlDataSource that loads content by
categoryID.
I've defined a property on MyUserControl.ascx called ContentCategoryID.

1) I am wondering if I should be using an sqlDataSource object for my
particular scenario. I need to loop through a listbox and perform an INSERT
sql operation for each item. Could be a few or several items. The reason I'm
wondering if I should use an SqlDataSource object is overhead. For example,
prior to learning about the sqlDataSource I would just code the ado.net
procedure myself. For example, create connection object, create and...

I have an ASP.NET application with an SQLdataSource and a Gridview
Everything works very well except I have a 'Button' that goes off and
changes some of the record data back in the underlying database records.
When I press this the data is definitely changed in the database - but on
screen nothing seems to happen.
So how do I force the page to reload the records from the database and
populate the gridview.

I'm using SQLDataSource, which generates some kind of dataset, and then I
attach that datasource to various data display controls such as DataList and
repeater which loop through to the end of the data that was retrieved by the
query.
At times I may want the display control only to render some items in the set
of data returned by SqlDataSource. There would be several scenarios:
* render the second data item or third item in to the end...

Hi,
I want to limit the amount of data shown in a page coming from a database.
Everything works except that I get the error:
"Unable to cast object of type 'System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource' to
type 'System.Collections.IEnumerable'"
on line: PageDataSource.DataSource = SqlDataSource2
Thanks for help

This seems like it should be simple to do but for some reason I have
been unable to make it work.
I would like to databind a SqlDataSource to a GridView during the
click event of a button. This sounds easy but the next requirement is
that the GridView is editable. So I have included the SelectCommand
and the UpdateCommand on the SqlDataSource to allow the GridView to be
editable. I have now been able to get the GridView to display data...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
