Has anyone used tools like pychecker (or even Python's own debugger or
profiler) during unit testing? Here are some things that might be natural
to do:
1. pychecker can run all kinds of fancy tests on code. I'm wondering
whether these tests could be incorporated somehow into individual unit
tests. For example, one might use pychecker to assert that a subclass does,
or does not, override a method of a base class. Yes, one could write...

Hi all ya unit-testing experts there :)
Code I'm working on has to parse large and complex files and detect
equally complex and large amount of errors before the contents of the file
is fed to module interpreting it. First I created a unit-test class named
TestLoad which loaded, say, 40 files of which about 10 are correct and
other 30 files contained over 20 different types of errors. Different
methods on the TestLoad class were coded so...

Subject: Unit-testing applications that use the
Microsoft.Patterns.EnterpriseLibrary.Data

I've written a web application that uses the M.P.E.D namespace to do
all of its data layer tasks (and a nifty bit of code M.P.E.D is too!).
However, unit-testing is proving a bit of a problem, as the database
factory complains...

Using "SELECT * " is a bad practice even
when using a VIEW instead of a table?
I have some stored procedures that are
identical with the difference of one statement
in the WHERE clause. If I create a single View
and specify also in this View the WHERE clause
that is common in these stored procedures, I
will have the new stored procecures changed to

Hi,
I previously asked for suggestions on teaching testing in C++. Based
on some of the replies I received I decided that best way to proceed
would be to teach the students how they might write their own unit
test framework, and then in a lab session see if I can get them to
write their own. To give them an example I've created the following
UTF class (with a simple test program following). I would welcome and
suggestions on how anybody...

I released version 2.0 of C++ Unit Test Library. You can download
it from SourceForget.Net at http://sourceforge.net/projects/cppunittest/
..
I wrote this unit test library because other unit test frameworks
always lacked features I considered important. Some only provided
output in certain formats, and I had no easy way to choose my own
format. Most provided no protection against exceptions. Only a few
were useful for unit-testing...

Unit testing is an integral component of both "formal" and "agile"
models of development. Alas, it involves a significant amount of tedious
labor.
There are test automation tools out there but from what limited exposure
I've had, they are pricey, reasonably buggy, and require compiler/target
adaptation.
Out of my frustration with two out of two of them came my own. Its
instrumentation approach is based solely on profound abuse of the C

Hello,
I've just ported an ASP.NET project from VS 2003 to 2008. In 2003, I
was using NUnit to test. Under 2008, I don't get a single DLL for my
website, so I can't use NUnit anymore. Additionally, I'd prefer to use
the built in VS2008 Pro tools. I don't want to actually test ASPX
functionality, rather I have several classes that are in my App_Code
folder. I can't build a "test project" because there is no DLL for me
to reference so...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
