Web Service proxy - where have my Custom Attributes got to?

camel

Apologies if foolish question, but I somewhat expected Custom Attributes (i.e.
inheriting from System.Attribut e) decorating class properties to come through
via WSDL to the proxy the same as built in Attributes (e.g., Xml .Serialization
attributes).

Have typically always accessed custom attributes in referenced assemblies
rather than via WS so perhaps I imagined it...No attributes come through in
generated proxy for WS so obviously not so simple, can anyone tell me if this
is possible and if so what else is required to get custom attributes into the
generated proxy code?

For anyone who might have this issue, the answer is that Custom Attributes do not come through via MS automatic generation of the WSDL or indeed the proxy generation process. However if you are keen (which I was) and happen to have a code generator that works with XSD already (which I did) then you can bypass the MS approach by using ServiceContract Generator and modifying the CodeNamespace by calling your own generation tool for the Data Contract.

Hi, I have a C# web service client that talks to a JAVA application sever. I use AXIS to generate the WSDL file, use wsdl.exe to generate proxy stub c# code. When I try to use c# client connect to application server, I did not get the result in the C# client side, I used a soap monitor to look at the SOAP messages that were exchanged, I can see server returned a correct SOAP message, but the C# client failed to deserialize the XML...

(I'm new to VS, so please forgive me if this is a faq.) I'm writing some Java web services and need to test them with C++ clients. I can use either a Windows Form application or an MFC application. I used VS.NET 2003 to create a C# client that successfully processes SOAP messages to and from the Java service. However, I'm having problems with the C++ client. I created a new solution and a new project with File > New > Visual C++ Projects...

I have a Entity class defined in a assembly. I then have a web service in the same solution, which takes an object of this class as a parameter. It expects me to give the fully qualified name of this parameter (complete namespace and class in the proxy), - so we have to go and change the proxy by hand, because it assumes that the class definition would belong to the web service. How can this be avoided ?

Hi, I'm looking for some good examples that illustrate how to code a web service that exposes a custom collection so that the properties of the collection are accessible on the client without having to do a httpwebreqeust call.

Hello, I'm currently developing a web service that retrieves data from an employee table. I would like to send and retrieve a custom employee class to/from the webservice. I have currently coded the custom employee class and have built it as a separate library (employee.dll). This employee.dll is being referenced by both the web service and the windows application. I face the following problem when I send this class to the webservice.

I'm a bit puzzled by the current recommendation not to send Datasets or Datatables between application tiers. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306134 http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms996381.aspx Formerly, with classic Microsoft DNA architecture, the ADO Recordset was a primary transport medium, recommended for transmitting data between application tiers. In fact, there are whole books written on the subject.

Can I override the send and receive methods on a web service proxy? I want to use the default proxy classes generated when I add a reference to a web service to create and read the SOAP messages when I call a method… but, I would like to replace the send and receive with my own code so I could send the Soap message to an EMS queue and get the response SOAP from another queue instead of calling the web service.

Hi I am using the svcutil parameter: /ct to obtain IBindingList from WCF Service. I can exclude some collection or some WCF service methods from this conversion? I have some strongly typed custom collections, which are serializable, and I want, sometime, to use my custom collection, not IBindingList. Thank in advance

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
