I have a puzzling form timer problem that I didn't experience prior to
Access 2003 (though I'm not sure access 2003 is to blame).
Here's the situation: a computer has two access 2003 databases on it, a
frontend and a backend.
Case 1: If vba code on the frontend updates many rows (360,000) on the
backend, a form's timer event (from the frontend) will stop firing until the
user gives the form focus. (Note that the update itself always...

Hi all,
I notice that the Form_Dirty event does not fire in Access 2002 (SP-1) when
the first character is typed into a new record. In previous versions of
Access it does fire.
For existing records that are being edited, the event does fire.
Has this (previous) behaviour been changed by Microsoft?

Hi, in the NorthWind sample database, when clicking on the next
navigation button on the new order record with nothing on the subform
(order details), we got an order with nothing ordered. How can we
prevent this from happening?
Thanks.

I have some old code that I use from the Access 95 Developers handbook. The
code works very well, with the exception that it doesn't seem to recognize
wide screens, and sizes tab controls so that they are too big and wind up
covering up some of the fields on the main form.
Is there any good code out there that works in a similar fashion that will
also either a) stretch the form width wise on widescreens or b), rely on
height rather than...

A postback I'm doing takes ages to get the data which it then uses to
populate a table.
What I want to know is:
How can I get the client side to fire a 'resize' event when the postback
thing has finished?

I have a simple page that has a dropdown with autopostback=true and
onselectedindexchanged is set to a function that never gets called
(checked during debug). This page is subclassed from custom class of
mine that I subclassed from Page.
I have overridden a couple of methods (OnPreRender, OnUnload, OnInit)
to provide for html template layout, all of the base functions are
called as well.
Can anyone lend some help as to why the...

If I draw on a form, then place another form on top of it, all the drawings
on the first form are erased. VB.Net doesn't have an AutoRedraw function.
How do I get graphics on a form to persist?

I've noticed some old posts regarding this issue; but nothing recently
and no resolutions in the old postings.
Its almost hard for me to believe that this wouldn't be fixed by now.
I am using Access 2007.
The Forms Load event does not fire when the form is displayed. It
does fire when the next button "On Click" event occurs. I have 5 or 6
buttons, and it doesn't matter which one I press. The actual action

Hi:
I am trying to get access to the event after a window has been resized. The
events I have been using SizeChanged and Resize all fire after any pixel
size change.
What I am trying to achieve is after the window has been dragged to a new
size (or maximized/restored) then I redraw the images within the form.
If I do it on Resize, then it tries to redraw as the form is being resized,

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
