I try I always seem to get the error about modifying the collection within
the loop.

Hi all,
I used all your info to come up with the following conclusion when I needed to modify my Hashtable object.
1) Create an ArrayList from the Hashtable keys so that we have something to iterate around without involving the Hashtable.
2) Use a foreach or a for loop to iterate around each ArrayList item and change the Hashtable values as we need.
ArrayList keyList = new ArrayList(myHashTable);
for (int i=0; i < myHashTable.Count;...

Hi,
As was pointed out whatever you return from a WebMethod needs to be
serializable to SOAP. An ArrayList is not serializable. I will be
needing to return other data types from web methods. Is there a
document, or can some one list those types that are not serializable
and the syntax for converting them?
Thanks

I have a hashtable (h) of class objects keyed by a string (k) - the class
(c) object stored in each hastable entry has two attributes (a1 and a2).
I want to iterate through the entries of the hashtable by ordering by one of
the attributes of the class (a1 or a2).
How can this easily be achieved ? I think I have to copy to an ArrayList
then write an IComparer - but I'm not sure if this is the best way.
Any advice appreciated.

I have the need to translate values back and forth. I have created a
Hashtable to do this because I don't care about intrinsic order and I
want it to be a fast as possible. My only concern is that I doubled
the size of my Hashtable to accommodate translating both ways. Kind of
like the following, but longer with more complicated data.
Hashtable ht = new Hashtable();
ht.Add("x1", "y1");
ht.Add("x2", "y2");
ht.Add("y1", "x1");

I'm trying to build a hashtable and a arraylist as object value
I'm not able to retrieve stored object from the hashtable.
Hashtable mp = new Hashtable(); // THE HASHTABLE
ArrayList atemp = new ArrayList(); // THE ARRAY
StreamWriter sw = new StreamWriter(@"C:\temp\fred.html");

I've been reading up on Arrays in ASP.NET. I'm going to create an two
dimensional array of some type to contain 5 columns but a variable amount of
rows. I read up on the ArrayList function and the HashTable as well. In
the two books I have, there's no mention of the limitations of an ArrayList
and it can only contain a single column array. But from the examples, I've
seen, this seems to be true. The HashTable, as far as I can tell, can...

Hi
I am having a problem understanding the exact advantages of using an
ArrayList over a Hashtable in any situation.
In most areas of an application I am working on, lookup needs to be
fast. If I use a hashtable
Addition - O(1) - same as ArrayList
Removal - O(1) - same as ArrayList
Lookup- O(1) - ArrayList is O(n)
Memory - Maybe slightly more than ArrayList since we have a hash to
store.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
