Windows XP create new folder slowness

Hello,
I'm having trouble creating a new folder.
Right clicking or going to File, New, the arrow turns into an hourglass and
for at least a minute, then I can create a new folder. This has been
happening for a while now but I don't remember it always being this way.
I tried to find the broken shell using shellExView but the only thing that
shows a problem is the google toolbar in IE. I disabled that rebooted my PC
and still get the same slowness/delays.
Any other suggestions?

Hello, I am wondering if it is possible to create a networked application with C# that is seen as a windows user. For example, if Bob logged onto windows and then started the application, any access to the network made through the application would be seen as 'C# application user' and not 'Bob'. What I want to accomplish is to create an encrypted folder on a server where files within the folder can be accessed through the application,...

Ok, this is a very unique bug. I have only been able to find one other post related to this online, and everybody who responded misunderstood the problem. I am not trying to reference anything in the BIN folder directly. Here is the problem. I had a site running without any problems, and then all of a sudden it went down and visitors started getting the error message "Directory 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\www.mysite.com\bin' does not exist....

Hi All I would like to install the same Windows Service project on the same server under different names, one for each customer. I have been able to do it but I would like an expert opinion as to whether my solution is robust or whether there is a better way to do it. What I've been trying to do is to create a core project with different extension projects, one for each customer. I wanted to create a different Setup project for each...

I'm looking for a "smart folder" program to run on my Windows XP machine. I'm not having any luck finding it and think the logic behind the program is pretty simple, but I'm not sure how I'd implement this. I've done some VB6 programming and dabbled in VS.Net. Can someone share some pointers in how I could implement the following? Basically, you drag a file to the "smart" folder and, depending on the type of file and settings for that...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
