Howdy,
I am having trouble with the objectCategory=group member.Count attribute.
I get one of three counts, a number between 1-999, no member (does not
contain member property), or 0. Using LDIFDE as a comparison I get the same
results. No members means just that, an empty group. Zero means that the
DirectorySearcher.SizeLimit has been exceeded....

I'm completely new to ASP.Net 2.0 and I'm baffled about what to do to
get this to work.
FYI, I'm not new at this, I've used asp.net 1.1 for allmost 4 years
now.
I'm running a development machine running Team Foundation Server,
VS.net 2005 Team Suite and SQL Server 2005, all freshly installed and
working (all final, no betas).
I've built my first website and, having worked with sharepoint for

I have set up my web application to utilize an ADAM membership
provider. Everything is going well, except I do not wish to utilize
the built-in PasswordRecovery control (I don't want the randomly
generated password emailed to the user). I want to ask the user the
security question, check the answer, and then allow them to immediately
change their password.
By utilizing the built-in CreateUserWizard, the security answer is...

Hi,
I am currently working on an asp.net 2.0 web site that is a replacement of a
classic asp web site. The current web site uses a Commerce Server 2002
database for storing user information. It does not currently use any of the
Commerce Server 2002 functionality with the exception of the user
authentication features.
I have written my replacement application to use a custom login form and
custom connection string so that I can use...

We have an application that uses the new ASP.Net 2.0 membership
security, but we are writing the backoffice administration for it in
vb.net as an in house product.
We would like to be able to create users using batch file from our
customers and in doing this we will need to access the new asp.net
membership security from vb.net 2005.
I have created a reference to system.web and can see all the classes
and members but there doesnt seem...

I added security using the asp.net web site configuration tool and now I
want to remove it. I tried removing default provider via the asp.net
settings but it won't let me. It gives an error stating the provider name
must be at least 1 character long.
I want to use authentication but the simplified version of storing user
names and passwords in the web.config.
thanks

I am creating an ASP.NET 2.0 website. Rather than using all the membership
functions I wanted to just create my own SQL Server db and use SESSION vars
to track if the user is logged in etc...
Is doing it in this way just as secure? I know that the "membership" stuff
will save me some coding, but I was just thinking....
Thanks.

When I call System.Web.Security.Roles.GetRolesForUser() it returns no
results (an array of length 0) even though I have roles associated with the
currently logged in user. I am able to get the username by calling
System.Web.Security.Membership.GetUser().UserName. Why am I unable to get
the Roles, and what could I need to change? The <membershipand
<roleManagerelements in my Web.config are as follows:

I want to add the security question and answer security feature to the
ChangePassword control. I am aware that this functionality is built into the
PasswordRecovery tool. I have implemented the PasswordRecovery with a
Password reset required; a temporary password is sent to the account on
file. I want an extra layer of security to accommodate the very unlikely
contingency that someone's e-mail account is compromised. Challenging with
the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.

Adolph will...
