Hi,
Currently, I have a console application written in C# and an unmanaged
legacy DLL written in VC++ 6.0. In the DLL's previous application, when an
event occurs in the DLL, a windows message would be sent to the host GUI
application via PostMessage to WM_USER + X. The GUI application would then
execute a function to retrieve data from the DLL.
With this new setup, I have a console application as the host. I retrieved
the handle...

Ok, I have a proxy server written in c#.
Because I'm maintaning two versions (a console application for debugging and
a windows service for deployment) I got the console application working,
then I added a service and wrote the service.
However, I can't seem to figure out a way to actually compile and use the
service. It is in the project, the code checks out when I build it, but all
that is output for my project is the console...

Hi all,
I have developed a vb.net console application which will run some code
every seconds. To get this working I used a timer "System.Timers".
When I start my console application it exits within a second. So I
added the line: "Console.Read()". Everything seemes to run fine but
after a few days the application stopped. Without an error.
I think it has something to do with the lifetime of the
"Console.Read()". Is this right?

I have written a console application that clears out some folders. I
want this application to run as a Windows Service (not a scheduled
task). What is the easiest way to convert this console application into
a Windows Service using Visual Studio .Net?

Hey guys,
I've written a fairly simple Windows C# Application using Visual Studio
2005. I have to manually run it, but I would prefer to have it run on it's
own, as if it was a Windows NT Service. I am a Delphi convert (still use it
for some jobs). When developing in Delphi, I would write a console
application that would basically run on it's own. In order for me to register
it as a Windows NT Service, I seem to recall that I would do...

I have a console application that checks the email of a user every
minute. I have tried using the window service so it can run
continously on the server. My question is how can I include this
console application into a windows service project to make this run on
the server. Can I change the console application and make it into a
dll and then include it in the window service project or is there
another way of doing this with out writing...

Is there such a thing as a Windows standard for killing a console app that
is monitored by a System.Diagnostics.Process object?
I'm hosting several C# console apps in a C# Windows service and would like
to standardize on a graceful termination method when the Windows service
stops.

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
