Pointer to a class, C++ 2005

11 New Member
How can I create a pointer to a class in C++ 2005. I doing it for a Window Forms Application.

Eg.
This is how it used to be like in MFC.
ColourProc Vision[NumberOfCamera]

These are the errors I gotten:
array<ColourPro c,1>^ Vision = gcnew array<ColourPro c, 1>(NumberOfCame ra);

error C2691: 'ColourProc' : a managed array cannot have this element type
'ProjectRE::For m1::Vision': only static data members can be initialized inside a ref class or value type
'ReadConfigFile ' : is not a member of 'System::Int32'

when using vectors with pointers of objects. is it best to create instances then point to them or dynamic allocation upon creating a vector element. I can do this, but is creating a vector with pointer to objects best done like this...with dynamic allocation vector<emp_class*> ptvector; ptvector.push_back(new emp_class(4,"ee")); cout<<ptvector->....

Hi All, I have the following problem, and I would be extremely grateful if somebody would be kind enough to suggest an efficient solution to it. I create an instance of a Class A, and "push_back" a copy of this into a vector V. This is repeated many times in an iterative process. Ok whenever I "push_back" a copy of Class A, I also want to assign a pointer contained in an exisiting instance of a Class B to this

I just do not understand this error. Am I misusing dynamic_cast ? What I want to do is to have a single template construct (with no optional argument) so that it works for whatever T I want to use it with. Now, if that T happens to be some subclass of a known base class (object, in this case), I want to perform some extra stuff ... I've read Faq#35, and the most natural solution would have

Hi I'm a little confused here about the lifetime of a static pointer to member function, Say, I declare,define & initialize a static ptr to mem function in the header file of a class(the class is a helper Singleton class, and is created & deleted as and when required) - Where does the static pointer point to when every single instance of the class is deleted. I presume it'll be dangling pointer- as the code seg to which it's

Hi all, I have a question regarding the gcc behavior (gcc version 3.3.4). On the following test program it emits a warning: #include <stdio.h> int aInt2 = {0,1,2,4,9,16}; int aInt3 = {0,1,2,4,9};

I mentioned earlier to day that I was moving some code from VC++6 to VC++2005 and having trouble with the new iterators. There's all sorts of problems cropping up in the code thanks to this change. a) With pointer-iterators you could set an iterator to null to mark it as invalid, you can't do that any more. b) You can't use const_cast with iterators.

Hi everybody, I'm having problem passing pointer to member object as template argument, seems VC 2005 does not allow 'pointer to base member' to 'pointer to derived member' conversion in template arguments, is this VC specific or a standard c++ behavior? the code looks like this: class Base { public: int member; };

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
