ASP.NET PostBack Encoding Problem

6 New Member
Hello,

I've an encoding problem with asp.net 2.0 pages, it only effects to the content of textBox elements. When user press Submit button and page become postback the strings in textBox become strange characters.

Is anybody experienced and solved a similar problem ?

Best Regards

Have you tried checking whether postback occurs? Copy the strange characters and the textbox properties. Thanks.

Maybe you should store the values that are being jumbled into a Session object.

Session.add("na me", value)

Then on page_load check if its a postback and if it is, just change the .text property of whatever textbox is messing up:

theTextBox.text = Session("name") .toString()

Hope this helps with the encoding issues.

Thanks.. This method solved my problem. But I have two PostBack (2 buttons) in my page. Fisrt one brings the data and the second one create XML. With Session method I can just add jumbled characters to an XML document.

But thanks again...

Hi, I have an ASP.Net web page that you can download a file. As Fergunson's problem, it prompts twice dialog boxes only if I select Open button. If I select Save button, it prompts once. I'm using W2000KS & IE6 sp1 & VS.NET 2003. If I change method="post" by method="get" form attribute, it works fine.

I have half a dozen web form radio buttons on a web form. Each of them is set to postback=true. However, if for instance radiobutton1 is already selected and the user selects it again, it performs a postback. I only want to do a postback if the value of the radiobutton is changed. What is the best method to accomplish this? thx dave

I'm new to ASP.NET and I'm not use to the way things are handled with this technology. I've been told that when I have a control, I should only bind the data to it once, and not on each post back (basically have the data binding done in the If NOT IsPostBack Then statement). How come? How does this information get preserved? Which raises another question. Becuase I want to get away from the spaghetti code approach, I would like to create...

In our multi-tier application, we have several ASP.NET user controls which will update the same data source provided by middle tier logic. In this particular scenario we have one user control displaying the contents of the data source, whilst another control updates the datasource via a command buttons implementation of 'Click', an event raised in the 'Handle Postback Events' stage of the control execution life cycle (via the...

It would be udeful to be able to get the current on-screen values from a FormView that is databound to an ObjectDataSource by using a callback instead of a postback. For example: public void RaiseCallbackEvent(string eventArgs) { // update the data object with the values currently on screen FormView1.UpdateItem(true); }

Hi all, I have a bunch of dropdownlists that are populated in client-side javascript. When i do a postback I get the following error:- Invalid postback or callback argument. Event validation is enabled using <pages enableEventValidation="true"/> in configuration or <%@ Page EnableEventValidation="true" %> in a page. For security purposes, this feature verifies that arguments to postback or callback events originate

Hello there, I use an Ajax slider extender and I'm try to find a workaround to a known (http://forums.asp.net/p/1092702/2681110.aspx) "bug" of the slider control from the Ajax Control Toolkit. When the user is clicking the mouse on the slider during a partial postback, an error occurs. I have a Ajax Timer which causes a postback every ten seconds. So I would like to disable the slider before the postback...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
