Hello all,
I'm relatively new to Access and could use some direction on this
task. I have a group with a FoxPro 2.6 for DOS membership & attendance
database with about 200 member records. The group operates on a 28
week schedule, with meetings once each week. At the end of 6 months
they create a new 28 week schedule, but preserve the prior 6 month
attendance values. They view & edit attendance records for the
"current period" and...

Hello,
I have to develop an application which use Microsoft Fingerprint
Reader.
This device can be handled like a scanner? So can i use a class inside
Platform SDK or API? There are resources?
I only need to be able to capture images generated by the fingerprint
reader (i would have already an algorithm to compare 2 fingerprint
images).

I would like to design a drop down option box on a form which gives me several choices for putting in an attendance date to record church attendance. Typically, a church secretary would record a member's attendance sometime after the date of attendance (eg. Monday or Tuesday after the Sunday's attendance). On my attendance form, I need to have an option box that would put in last Sunday's attendance date even though it's now Monday or Tuesday or...

I've searched comp.databases.ms-access for a solution and found help
but still haven't got my problem solved. I want to record weekly
attendance and print an attendance "check off" sheet where attendees
simply check on their name row and class date column to record their
attendance. The marked attendance sheet is later used to update the
database and print an updated attendance sheet for the following
week's class. I'm working with...

My employer has asked me to create a database that will keep track of
the employee attendance. Time off / Time earned, excused / unexcused,
etc.
At my company from the 6th month of employment to the second year you
earn 8 hours of PTO each month, from the 2nd to 4th year you earn 10
hours PTO each month.
My question is how would I preform a check for each employee once a
month to automatically add their newly earned PTO time?

Hi I'm trying to Dcount *unique* records by comparing a date/time
field. I say *unique* because the field contains a date/time but I
need to ignore the timestamp and work off the date only.
I think the code below should work to count unique values in a normal
text field but the date/time is causing a lot of problems because it's
reading the timestamps to be different despite the "medium date"
formatting.
DCount("", "attendance",...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The next Access Europe User Group meeting will be on Wednesday 1 May 2024 starting at 18:00 UK time (6PM UTC+1) and finishing by 19:30 (7.30PM).
In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
