DataBinding and DataGridView Questions

1 New Member
I am sorry for the broadness of this question, but I litterally can't get anywhere with this.

I have a dataGridView that loads data from an Access 2007 Database. This works fine. I would like to, when I double click on a dataGridView row though, have a second form open with the information displayed in textboxes, etc. Not all of my data is in the dataGridView. From what I can gather, I would use the dataGridView RowEnter event for this, but I have no idea how. I also don't know how the form that opens would know what data to populate the textBoxes and such with. I am really lost. I have read a lot about Data Binding (As this sounds like what I need to do), but I can't seem to grasp it. I would like this application to kind of help me keep track of some things personally as I can't find anything that really fits my needs.

I really appreciate any help anyone can give me.

Oh, I am using C#.

Thank you again.

I've installed visual studio c# express, .net SDK 2.0, SQL Server Express, created a table in the SQL database and filled this with some data-rows. I dragged the database-table from Data Source-pane to the Form-designer to created a datagridview-form. When I then build and run the program the datagridview is nicely filled with database-data. But when I add or modify the data inside the datagridview in the running program the database...

I had a SQL server 2005 table in which I noticed I mispelled a column name. I changed the column name in the sql server table but after that, in the UI fortm using the table, the dataset control bound via a binding source and a table adapter to a datagridview no longer recognized the changed column name and kept giving me an error on that column, evidentlty I expect that is normal. But only way I found to fix and see my changed column was...

We have been noticing that questions on vs.2005/2.0 don't appear to get much in answers so I'm reposting some questions posted by some of the programmers here in our organization that never got answered... In 1.1 we always did our own myDataAdapter.fills and we liked that control for lots of good reasons. Now the new DataSource (or is it a TableAdapter:Dataset) automatically fills the Gridview. How can we control that fill? In a...

Hi, I am struggling with two way databinding in WinForms and the DataGridView. I am binding to business object classes (rather than datatables). If I have a collection of these business objects that is the datasource of a DataBinding that is bound to a DataGridView (WinForms) then I was expecting that any change to the data would be reflected in the DataGridView (in other words I was expecting the 2 way databinding to actually...

Hi all, I have a DataGridView control in my Windows Forms application. I am binding it to a DataTable in another assembly. The name of the assembly is ActivityListDALC. I want to bind my grid to ActivityListDataSet.ActivityListDataTable in this assembly. I selected this DataTable in the grid's Properties window and it added a component called ScheduledCallDataTableBindingSource to my form. I can also see the column names in my grid. But...

I have a DataGridView displaying data from a DataSet. To the right of that I have a custom user control which displays one of the data set fields. The custom user control is bound to the data set object and displays the data correctly when I move from row to row. The problem I am having is the data set always reads the data back and considers it change even when it's not. I am looking for how to change the following code so the...

Hi, My problem: When the cursor is on a given row in the DataGridView, the data in the row has to be shown in TextBoxes underneath the DataGridView. the user must be able to edit in the Datagridview, or in the textboxes. The text in these textboxes and the datagridview has to be synchronsied at all time. So if the user types "a" in the Name-Column, the "a" has to appear immediately in the Textbox etc.

Please help me with this databinding scenario: Suppose I have a "Person" class, and that users populate Person objects in a BindingList collection through a datagridview. Users save the Person objects to the database when they click the save button. When the user starts the app, a person datagridview is populated with Person objects in the BindingList. The user subsequenly deletes one of the rows in the table, deletes the Person object. ...

I have set up a datagrid on my form with six columns. I want to capture the data from six textboxes on the form and add them to the datagrid. All the info I can find about this is with datatables and databinding. I don't want to databind this, this is only a repository for data until the user clicks the save button. Then I will iterate through the grid rows and insert the data. Does anyone have code to populate a gridview from...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
