Loading app before user login

89 New Member
What is the best/most correct way of starting an application without the need of login in (after windows startup)?

I found some options on the net:

1. Insert on HKEY_LOCAL_MACH INE\SOFTWARE\Mi crosoft\Windows \CurrentVersion \RunServices registry

2. include line load="appname" in win.ini file

3.include app in c:\Windows\Star t Menu\Programs\S tartUp\ folder.

In the first option, for some reason, I dont have the RunServices folder on my registry. Maybe because I have winXP? or maybe if I just create the folder would work?
The second option not sure if is possible or works. Anybody? (im afraid of screwing up the windows system file)
And the last one is not an option for me because it will only execute after the user login.

thanks in advance,
Thiago.

I use winXP and have that folder.
It's empty...but it's there.

Unless your program is ACTUALLY a service (or maybe it doesn't matter) you would be better off putting it in the "Run" directory

Its an application, in my case an executable created with vb.
But I found a solution. Take a look at the XYNTService open source software.

It works as a "bridge" to launch the program at the startup.
thanks!

There is a main form that starts invisible and does nothing more than start other forms and link them all together. I also have a Login form and a View form, both started by the main form. My goal is to have the Login form pop up as soon as the application is started, and at the same time have the View form start loading data, but stay...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
