Check out the use of the Microsoft Patterns and Practices Enterprise Library. This is available for free via the MSDN website at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-gb/practices/default.aspx.
Using the Data Access Application Block (DAAB), you can specify a set of normal action SQL Sprocs (Insert, Update, Select, Delete) and apply them to a specified dataset in one method call.
An excellent example of how to use the DAAB is was written by John Papa for the MSDN Magazine, which you can also access online at: http://msdn.microsoft.com/msdnmag/is...07/DataPoints/

Hope that helps!

Can somebody please help me figure out why the following method exceptions out? Execution at the line marked with ********** hangs for about 15 seconds and then I get an error that says an Unhandled StackOverFlowException occurred. The execution does not even get passed to the catch block. At the time of my test, only one of 12 tables in the dataset (catalogsDS) really has changes. The dataset is not a huge one. Most tables have less...

Hi, I have a relativley large/complex typed dataset that contains 7-8 tables and some supporting relational tables (lookups) for many-to-many relations. A good exampel would be a dataset that contained the whole Northwind database with all tables and relations. In my business logic I will retrive a populated instance of the dataset and perform some operations (adding/deleting/updating of rows in various tables...).

Hi everyone, I have a small problem regarding a wizard that I'm making on my website. The wizard is obviously a series of pages that take values from the user. My question is: - Should I store all the values entered until the last page and then update the database, or should I do it as I go.

I keep getting a concurrency exception the second time I make a change and attempt to update a dataadapter. It appears this is by design, so there must be something I can do to avoid it. Example: I have a dataadapter that contains one table with one row. I change the value of the 'FisrtName' column in that row from Jack to John. I call ..update on the dataadapter it goes through fine. Now I change that same column in that same row...

I don't care how one suggests I do it, but I've been searching for days on how to implement this concept. I'm trying to use some kind of grid control (doesn't have to be a grid control, whatever works best) to display a dropdown menu of fields populated from table tblInvoiceData. This control also includes a textbox which the user can input a value. These two columns are side by side and not in a vertical layout. The user then clicks on...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
